WirtschaftsWoche: KLAKA is the top law firm for patent law

Olaf Giebe ranked among the most renowned patent law experts for the second time

KLAKA Rechtsanwälte has once again been honoured by the news magazine WirtschaftsWoche as the top law firm for patent law. Representing the law firm, Olaf Giebe was ranked amongst the top 25 law firms for patent law in Germany in the list published in the latest edition of this leading business news magazine (Die besten Anwälte für Patentrecht).

“This is a great award for us. We hold a strong position in the field of patent litigation and our team has acquired an outstanding reputation before all the relevant courts. This is also reflected in the rankings in the leading manuals for business law firms such as Chambers, JUVE and Legal 500,” says Olaf Giebe, the partner at the Düsseldorf office who heads KLAKA’s patent law activities. “Feedback like this from the market motivates us all and also outwardly underscores the high appeal of our IP legal advice generally.”

To be included in the circle of top law firms, the specialised lawyers must be recommended and rated by selected fellow legal specialists. A jury of independent experts then uses this rating to decide on inclusion in the ranking. This year’s patent law jury comprised Achim Schunder, head of journals at the publisher C. H. Beck, Stephan Wolke, managing director of ThyssenKrupp Intellectual Property, Franziska Preissinger, Head of Patent Litigation ex US at Novartis, Hermann Kremer, head of the Audi legal department, and Stephan Gürtler, Senior Patent Counsel at Merck.

This is not the first time that KLAKA has been included in the WirtschaftsWoche top lawyer rankings. Olaf Giebe was similarly honoured in October 2015. And back in 2011 Dr. Ralf Hackbarth was included in the WiWo ranking of the top law firms for trade mark law. In addition, KLAKA is regularly to be found in the Best Lawyers ranking of the top lawyers in Germany in the field of industrial property law, published every year in the Handelsblatt.
